A Sweet Baby Boy

Today I have chosen to color Baby Edwin from the 2012 Prince and Princess collection. You can find Baby Edwin over at the Magnolia Licious Store. My nephew and his girlfriend are expecting a baby boy in the next couple of weeks. I thought this card would be perfect.

I stamped my image on cryogen paper with memento black ink. Then I colored my image with Copic Markers - skin E000, E00, R01; hair E25, E31, E50; crown Y02, Y11, Y13; stars Y00; pants B32, B34; pacifier BG000, BG10; socks and shirt YG93, YG95; shoes E40, E41, E42, E43.

I used Nestabilities to create my card shape. The paper and sentiment is from Authentique Miracle Boy. To complete my card I added floss.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Beach Vacation for a Special Cat

Happy Wednesday,

I created this post card using new digital images Beach Chair Background and Beach Cat for Inky Impressions Challenge this week. I colored my image with Copic Markers and used a sharpie white marker to create the polka dots on the umbrella and beach ball. I used frantage on the background of my card. To create the 3-D sand I used Viva Stone Art. The sunglasses and the liquid in the glass were created using Liquid Glass. I hope I have inspired you today!

Isn't She Lovely

Happy Saturday,

There is a chill in the air this morning... Fall is in the air. I am not ready for that but Mother Nature definitely has other plans.

Today I have created an altered canvas using a Prima Doll Stamp. I colored her with Copic - skin E000, E00 R20, Hair E18, E25, E50, Dress R000, R01, R02. I added shabby pink frantage to the bodice of her gown. On her headband I used glitter with some Gilded Mica. For the finishing touches on my doll I added a lace skirt, flower trim and belt with ribbon and black pearls. I painted the canvas with acrylic pant then stencil it with Viva Stone Art. To complete may canvas I added flower and white ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week. Karen

Flower Power

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone had a great week! We have actually had 5 days straight with no rain. Yippee!

Today I would like to share with you how you can create this beautiful flower and give you some inspiration to use on your next Inky project. Are you ready? Ok let's head into my craftroom....

Here is how we get started. You will need lace, Twinkling H20's, Silk Acrylic Glaze, matte finish, paint brushes, craft matte, spray bottle with water and water to clean your brushes. I made my own pattern for my flower (this is my star flower). First, you will need to make your pattern then cut out your petals - five sizes and five of each size.

Before we begin to paint; you should have petals like below.
I chose two Twinkling H20's-1 light color -Plum Blossom - 1 dark color Snapdragon.

On my flower I wanted the center darker then lighter toward the edge of the flower. Your spray bottle of water is your best friend for this part of your creation. The more water the more you can blend. If you want your flower to be dark don't us as much water.
Now to highlight the outer edge of my flower I used Silks Acrylic Glaze - Silver Bells. I would have preferred a darker color in the violet family but I just started building my collection. When the color is darker it is quite dramatic.
Before the next step you want to be sure your petals are completely dry. You can dry them with a heat gun or if you have time let them dry on their own. If you are in a more humid climate you will probably want to heat dry. After your petals are dry, I used an old brush to add the matte finish to each petal. Again dry completely. (you want to be sure you have an even coat of the finish - do not leave any clumps)
Ok, now we are ready to create our flower. You will need a mini stapler and a 1" circle of a light-medium weight piece of cardboard.
Ok, now pinch the bottom of each flower and staple. Do this to all the flowers. Stapling the flowers helps to keep their shape.

Once finished with the stapling see the nice shape that appears. I attached the large size to the bottom and alternate with the next size until you have finished your flower.
Below is an example of my first row.
To complete your flower you will want to add a button or an embellishment of your choice as the center of your flower. Glue the finishing touch and you have completed your first flower.

Below are a couple of Inky Stamps that would look spectacular with this flower. You could use the flower on the card with a sentiment or you could create an altered canvas. The possibilities are endless!
I hope I have inspired you today. I will be away for a month. But join me in October as we create an altered canvas together. Thanks so much for stopping by and joining me in creating a lace flower!

Tilda with Cross Necklace

Hello,

I hope you will head over to CMC's challenge "Anything Goes". This challenge sponsor is Marker Pop.

I was very excited when I visited their site and found several collections of Magnolia papers. I used the Love Collection (rose and blue romance) on my card.

I inked my image on cryogen paper using black memento ink and colored her with Copic markers. Skin E000, E01, E11, R20; Dress, Shoes and bow B000, B01, B02, B06; Tights R000, R01; Flower R000, R01, R02, G94, G99. I used a sharpie paint marker to add the polka dots to her bow and tights. I lightly inked the edges of my paper with Distress Ink Frayed Burlap.

To create my banner I used some chip board I had on hand and covered it with my DP. I added some Shabby White Frantage to add some sparkle to my design.

Below is a list of the other goodies I used on my cards:
Ribbon
Lace
Pearls
Bling
Cherry Lynn Flourish Die
Magnolia  Doohickey Tag - So Wrapped Tilda Lace
